Water Smart Tots, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded by Kari Bahour in 2014 after 4 children drowned in the Tampa Bay area on a single, Mother’s Day weekend. Water Smart Tots, Inc. is dedicated to eliminating pediatric drowning by promoting awareness through water safety education and by providing survival swim lesson scholarships to children who are financially disadvantaged. These scholarships are available as a result of donations from the community and fundraising efforts by our volunteer board of directors. They are available for those who GENUINELY cannot afford to pay for lessons. We thank our sponsors and donors for being as passionate about drowning prevention as we are. Drowning is the #1 killer among children under age 5. With statistics like these, it’s going to take an entire community to end this tragedy and ensure not one more child drowns.
